These costume designs for “The Storm” by Ostrovsky were done in my final year at the Wimbledon School of Art as part of my entry for an Arts Council Bursary. I had recently seen an exhibition of Yugoslav peasant art and the paintings of Ivan Genaleric particularly impressed me and I held them in my mind when designing these costumes.  They have particular importance for me as they led to my first job as an Arts Council
Design Assistant at the Royal
Lyceum Theatre,
Edinburgh.

Above is the model  for Act 3 of Bernard Shaw’s “Arms and the Man” done for my diploma show. It was my first design  to become a physical
reality.
