This web site shows my work as a stage and television designer from 1966 to the present. It is work in progress. Stage design, by its nature dates very quickly, nonetheless, I am very interested to look back as well as forward and to track the way tastes have changed. I have written a blog on the Scenography site: ‘Musings of a jobbing designer’ which gives a fuller background to my work. My style of design falls into the mainstream, and I admit to having a fondness for realistic set design, in spite of the fact that it is often derided, and maybe because of this I have been able to adapt myself to the world of television in the last two decades.
The examples on this page are from ‘’Llyfr Mawr y Plant ‘ a joint production by Theatr Bara Caws, Theatr Gwynedd and Galeri. It was the final production to be mounted at Theatr Gwynedd
Recently I have been increasing the use I make of CAD in my work. To begin with it
was just in 2D for working drawings. I now supplement a physical model with CAD models
and am at present re-
To a limited extent I have attempted to use CAD as an aid to costume designs. The reason for trying it was the common one of ease of editing and to see if I could do it.
There is less of my television work on the site, in spite of the fact that in the last two decades it has dominated my output. But by its nature the preparation work is more to do with lists and notes and less about models and drawings and therefore less suited to public display. The is however a section on two of the more spectacular productions I have been involved in: namely ‘Hedd Wyn’ and ‘Jeux Sans Frontieres’. It would be difficult to think of two more contrasting projects.
